Peoria, Ariz. (June 5, 2006) — The City of Peoria and Element Homes dedicated a new 12-acre neighborhood park over the weekend. Located in the community of Sonoran Mountain Ranch near 67th Avenue and Dynamite, the park was the site for a Saturday celebration open to the public. The event included a guided trail hike, official dedication, kids activities, magician, face painter, balloon clown, wildlife display from the Arizona Game and Fish Department, and the cool sounds of the Cold Shott and the Hurricane Horns. The guests were treated to complimentary watermelon and refreshments.

In formally conveying the park, built by developer Element Homes, Mike Jesberger, Executive Vice President of Element Homes, presented Mayor John Keegan and City Council member Cathy Carlat with a commemorative skateboard and kite, in lieu of a ribbon cutting. “ We are delighted to give this park to the City for all to enjoy,” said Jesberger.

“ It's always enjoyable to welcome new recreation amenities for Peoria's citizens. This beautiful park is a fitting gathering place for one of the city's newest neighborhoods, Sonoran Mountain Ranch. We're also very proud to be able to open one of the city's first public hiking trails in this neighborhood - a trail which leads to the top of East Wing mountain and an unparalleled view of northern Peoria. On behalf of the City Council, I would like to personally thank the city staff and the developers of Sonoran Mountain Ranch who worked together to open this park and trail for us all to enjoy, ” said Peoria Mayor John Keegan.

Following the dedication, children helped release balloons into the sky to celebrate the latest addition to the parks department.
