Festivities Slated for Maricopa Park Opening

Maricopa, Ariz. (August 30, 2006) -- The City of Maricopa will be receiving a new public park, courtesy of Element Homes, the developer of Glennwildegroves. Pacana Park, is nearly 19 acres in size and includes a lake, pavilion, lighted softball fields, lighted soccer fields, lighted tennis courts, lighted basketball courts, concession/restroom building, lighted playground and picnic areas.

“It is our pleasure to present this park to the community of Maricopa. We hope it will foster wonderful experiences and memories for many, many years to come,” said Element Homes executive vice president Mike Jesberger.

This is the City of Maricopa’s first public park. “A lot of love and passion has gone into the planning of this community amenity,” said Marty McDonald, Parks, Recreation, and Libraries Director for the City of Maricopa.

A celebration commemorating the park opening will be staged on Friday and Saturday, September 15 and 16. On Friday evening, the official dedication ceremony will be staged at 6:30 p.m., followed by music from the Rhythm Edition and various family activities. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at the event. The event, free and open to the public, is presented by Element Homes, along with Sunstate Bank and many other business and community organizations. The first 400 people to attend the Friday festivities will receive a baseball hat, and the first 1,500 will receive a backpack.

On Saturday, September 16, the park will feature a movie evening, sponsored by Orbitel Communications and Community of Hope Church. The Saturday evening events begin at 6 p.m. with the movie to start at sunset.

The park was collaboration between Element Homes and the City of Maricopa and is located within the community of Glennwildegroves, on the southeast corner of Honeycutt and Porter Roads in Maricopa. Glennwilde Groves is located 15.5 miles south of I-10 on Hwy 347 (Queen Creek exit). From Maricopa Road (Highway 347) drive east on Honeycutt for approximately two miles to Porter. Turn south on Porter.
